Gary J. Wasurick, age 75, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at ThedaCare Medical Center – Neenah, surrounded by his family.

Gary was born May 15, 1951, in Manitowoc, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Kates) Wasurick. From a young age his paternal grandparents Lillian and James Wasurick played a large role in his life, eventually officially adopting him. Gary grew up in Fischerville and graduated from Mishicot High School where he met his sweetheart, Mary Schetter. Gary and Mary were married on July 7, 1973, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. They spent 52 years together in sickness and in health, developing a beautiful partnership that held them through raising two children, the additions of their beloved grandchildren, retirement travel adventures, and too many good times to count. Gary worked in the parts department at various car dealerships throughout his career, most recently before his retirement at Bergstrom Lexus in Appleton. Gary loved his family, and most of his favorite things to do in life centered around them. He went to every one of his grandkids’ sports, concerts, and recitals. If he couldn’t be there in person, he was either there in spirit or watching on TV. Gary also spent his time fishing, watching sports and old westerns, and enjoying weekends at 141 and Chilton back when his son, Chris, was racing.

Gary is survived by his wife: Mary Wasurick; daughter: Kari (Mark) Zigmunt; son: Chris Wasurick (Crista Willis); grandchildren: Rheanna, Dannica, Ethan, Brogan, Lucas; Crista’s children: Ben and Zoe; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joanie Schetter, Bob (Laurie) Schetter, Dan (Christine) Schetter, David (Jill) Schetter.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Elizabeth Wasurick; grandparents: Lillian and James Wasurick and William and Anna Kates; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herbert and Margaret Schetter.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
