Eugene "Gene" Maxey, age 74, of Pigeon Lake, and formerly of Brookfield, went to be with his Lord on January 11, 2011.
Gene was born on August 19, 1936 in Sheboygan. He graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan with the class of 1955, and then went on to graduate from Layton School of Art. On February 20, 1960, Gene married Arlene Hendrikse. For 35 years, Gene worked for KCS Industries in Milwaukee as an assistant sales manager until his retirement in 1996. Upon his retirement, Gene and Arlene moved from Brookfield to Pigeon Lake. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, fishing, boating, wintering in Florida, and attending Bible studies. Above all, Gene was a proud grandpa who cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. They will miss those special times on the lake.
Survivors include Gene's wife and best friend of 50 years: Arlene; one daughter: Cindy (Dean) Cotter, Chicago; one son: David (Tracy) Maxey, New Berlin; six grandchildren: Justin, Eric, and Hope Cotter and Morgan, Matthew, and Melissa Maxey; two sisters: Diane Felde and Ardell Brandt; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Faith Church, 2201 South 42nd Street, Manitowoc from 9 am until the beginning of the funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Jeremy Vance will officiate with burial to follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the American Caner Society or Faith Church Mission Fund.
