George M. Ouimette Sr., age 86, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life peacefully Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
George attended elementary school in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Unites States Navy serving for seven years, a World War II veteran and former commander of the VFW Post 659. George graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, held a master's degree in reading and was employed at the Black Rivers Falls Correctional Facility until his retirement. He loved being "up north" with family where he spent his boyhood years. Those who knew him enjoyed his great sense of humor, his humble and giving spirit, his strength of will and immense integrity.
George is survived by seven children: Lorraine Evans, her husband Walter and their daughter Morgan, his son Jean, his son George Jr., and wife Diane, and their daughter Clarisse, daughter, Nannette and husband, Ian, his son Jared and wife, Margaret and their children; Louis, Alexis, Jared, Tyler, Aaron and Madeline; his son, Rene and his daughters, Theresa and Michelle and his son, Larry and wife, Melissa and their children; Michael, Julianna and Christiana, his brothers William and Victor; sister, Jane Jones; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (nee Krueger) in 2009.
George's love of animals is to be recognized by having all memorial donations, sent in his name, to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 1551 North 8th Street, Manitowoc, WI 54220.
A memorial will be held on the land he loved so much at 5080 Willow Dam Road, Hazelhurst, WI on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
