Gladys, Grapentine, age 82, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at her daughter's residence while surrounded by her family.
Gladys was born on August 16, 1929 in Manitowoc to the late Edward and Marie Lorenz Jachimstal. She attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On July 30, 1949, Gladys married John Grapentine at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. John preceded her in death on December 22, 2003. Gladys enjoyed spending her time as a volunteer for Friendly Visitors, Manitowoc Senior Center, and Repeat Performance. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two sons: John W. Grapentine and Gary E. (Darsi) Grapentine, both of Manitowoc; six daughters: Sharon (Conrad) Gadzinski, Manitowoc; Roseann (Cliff) Brennan, Manitowoc; Marie Grapentine and her partner, Jean Erickson, Manitowoc; Karen (Robert) Behnke, Whitelaw; Kay Loveless and special friend, Al Hoes, Manitowoc; and Beth (Troy) Copeland, Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother: Thomas (Linda) Jachimstal, Manitowoc; one sister: Marion Stock, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Marie; husband, John; sister: June DuMonthier; two grandchildren: Jill Marie Gadzinski and Ember Rose Loveless; two brothers-in-law: Norman Stock and Jim DuMonthier.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 9 am until the time of the memorial service at 10 am.
