Glenn R. Gaterman, age 95, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Angelus Senior Living in Manitowoc.
Glenn was born on December 5, 1927 in Manitowoc to the late Erwin and Gladys (Anderson) Gaterman. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. Glenn enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. On April 30, 1955, Glenn married Janet M. Broehm at St. John's United Church of Christ in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2016. Glenn had worked his entire career at the family business, Gaterman Manufacturing, from where he retired as President. He was an active lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Manitowoc. Glenn enjoyed living and sailing on Lake Michigan, and tending to his garden. He was an active member of many local organizations.
Survivors include Glenn's two children, David Gaterman, Manitowoc; and Debbie (Jerry) Wenzel, Two Rivers; two grandchildren, Brett (Clare) Wenzel and Marilyn (Tyler) Sincock; three great grandchildren, Brycen, Berkeley, and Matthew; two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Florence Gaterman and Ken (Audrey) Broehm; special nephew, William Gaterman III; also other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; brother, William Gaterman II; and sister-in-law, Bernice (Richard) Dufano.
In respect with the family's wishes, private memorial services were held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, October 23, 2023. Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer officiated with burial of Glenn's cremated remains held at Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites were accorded by American Legion Post 88. Glenn's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Angelus Senior Living and Aurora at Home Hospice nurses for all of the care and compassion they provided.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
