Van Ess
February 6, 1964 – June 23, 2021
Gregory J. Van Ess, age 57, a resident of Green Bay, and formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at his residence.
Greg was born on February 6, 1964 in Two Rivers to Edward Van Ess and the late Karen (Dokey) Van Ess. After attending Washington High School in Two Rivers, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1981 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1987. Greg had previously been married to Dawn Blaha (mother to Jeremy), and later was married to Carol Binversie (mother to Jesse). Greg had worked as a CNC machinist at various machine shops in Manitowoc and Green Bay. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing guitar, writing, riding his bike, eating ice cream, and above all, spending time with his family and friends – especially his grandson, Rex.
Survivors include Greg's two sons, Jeremy Van Ess, Valders; and Jesse (Savannah) Van Ess, Green Bay; grandson, Rex; father, Edward Van Ess, Whitelaw; sister, Faye Ann (Dan) Kirt, Manitowoc; half-sister, Kim Rodman, Rhinelander; special friend, Susan, Green Bay; also nieces, a nephew, other relatives and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Van Ess; two brothers, Tim and Jeff Olm; and half-brother, Scott Van Ess.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 165 and VFW Post 1220 at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center to conclude the Life Celebration Social. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Greg's cremated remains to be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
