May 4, 1944 – March 17, 2018
Harry J. Parker, age 73, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Harry was born on May 4, 1944 in Maryland to the late Harry J. and Sarah (Spitler) Parker Sr. He attended school in Paw Paw, WV. Harry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1965. He had worked at Manitowoc Engineering as a boiler engineer from 1965 until his retirement in 2000. Harry then started his own remodeling business and later on purchased the Elbow Room which he was currently operating. He enjoyed his corvettes and parties. Harry enjoyed life to the fullest and had many friends. He was a happy go lucky guy and always had a good story to tell.
Survivors include Harry's son, James "Jimmy" Parker; daughter, Linda Parker; two grandchildren, Crystal and Alex Parker; great grandson, Tristyn K. Mathiesen; the mother of his children, Donna Rae Parker; two sisters, Barbara "Bobbi" Henderson and Wanda Parker; brother, Glen Alan Parker; stepbrothers, Eddie Moreland and James Moreland; also other relatives and many friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sarah Parker Sr.; sister, Lorraine Frances Simpson; stepsister, Teresa Moreland; and granddaughter, Alyssa Parker.
A Life Celebration Social for family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Military rites will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 at 7 p.m. to conclude the Life Celebration Social. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Harry's name.
The Parker family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and especially the emergency staff that took such good care of Harry in his last few days.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
