Obituary

Herbert R. Kent, age 88, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.

Herbert was born on August 8, 1929 in Poynette. He was the son of the late Charles and Anna Bruzzenmeister Kent.  Herbert served his country with the United States Marine Corps overseas in Korea in 1951 and 1952.  He was a recepient of the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat.  He sepecially enjoyed his Division 1, Dog Company 7, Marine reunions and the Old Glory Flight to Washington D.C.  After his honorable discharge Herbert was employed for 38 years as a truck driver for Sentry Foods with the Godfrey Company in Waukesha from where he retired in 1985.  He then kept himself busy with various jobs in the Manitowoc area.  On March 31, 1951 he married Dolores Stanislawski in California.  She preceded him in death on February 27, 1979.  He later married Shirley Pietras Shebesta on November 9, 1985 in Manitowoc.  Herbert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659, American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #24, Military Order of the Purple Hearts, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aires #706.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years: Shirley; his children:  Lynn (Ray) Knapp, Oak Creek; Kevin and his fiancé Laura, New Berlin; Kerry (Ann) Kent, Oak Creek; Gail (Roy) Knapp, Raymond, Patrice (Jim) Milzer all of Waukesha;  son-in-law:  Steve Frohnauer, Amery; his children by marriage:  Lynn (John) Gaus, DePere, and Keith Shebesta and special friend Mary, Manitowoc; grandchildren:  Nick (Jen) Jesse (Dan), Krysten (Rob), Eric, Stacy (Dan), Jenny (Nick), Andy (Katie), Adam (Ashley), Kelly (Anthony), Andrea, Libby, Gretchen, Sara, Tim, Tom, Christopher (Lea), Jared (Kristin),Cory (Mary), Becky, Melissa (Joey), Alex, Ben; his grandchildren by marriage:  Gina (Matt) and Joe (Rachel); great grandchildren:  Jack, Madeleine, Noah, Fiana, Gavin, Natalie, Alix, Sam, Casey, Keira, Dominic, Adam, Kaviono, Landon, McKenna, Aria, Liam, Kaleb, Mason, Connor, Hailey, Irish, Ian, and a new baby to be born in August; great grandchildren by marriage:  Breckin, Griffin, Chloe, and Carsten; one brother: Robert (Gloria) Kent, Milwaukee; sisters-in-law:  Ruth Kent, Darlene Stanislawski, Linda Stanislawski, Flossie Freeman, Elaine Sepnesky, Doris Fricke, special friends, Jim and Lucy DeWein, Teresa Shebesta and his van driver Ann; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Charles and Anna Kent; his first wife:  Dolores; daughter:  Cindy Frohnauer; two daughters-in-law:  Pam Kent and Maureen Shebesta; sisters:  Violet, Rose, Lily, and baby sister Daisy; brothers:  William, Edward, and Carl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Deacon Alan Boeldt.  Military honors will follow at the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659.  Entombment will take place Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek.  Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.  A luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.

Shirley and all of Herbs family would like to thank the staff, nurses, especially Cheryl and John, CNA's too numerous to mention, girls in activities, therapists, and the many friends we met the last six months at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Thank You! Herb was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He will be greatly missed
