Hubert "Bert" J. Denil, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Bert was born on February 25, 1934 in the Town of Brussels to the late Harry and Mary (Mathy) Denil.  He graduated from Brussels High School with the class of 1953.  On September 12, 1953, he married Della M. Destree at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brussels.  She preceded him in death on February 15, 2016.  Bert and Della moved to Manitowoc in 1955 and worked at Fisher Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers until his retirement in 1997.   Bert was a master at reusing and repairing just about anything. He also enjoyed growing and caring for all types of plants his entire life. Bert enjoyed traveling, and if it was to see his family, it made him even happier. He had a great sense of humor and was an excellent story teller (whether it was true or not). Bert enjoyed talking about cars, growing up on a farm, and his wife, Della.  Bert was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include Bert's two sons, Al (Denise) Denil and Michael Denil, all of Manitowoc; three daughters, Diane (Dan) O'Connell, Superior; Denise (Patrick) Reed, Manitowoc; and Mary Denil, Sheboygan; son-in-law, Wally Aguilar, CA; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.  Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Denil; son, Gary Denil; daughter, Gail Aguilar; and four brothers, Raymond Denil, Louis Denil, James Denil, and Walter Denil.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum.  A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10 a.m.  until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m.   Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
