Hubert E. Wall, age 89, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Hubert was born on August 24, 1927 in Laona. He was the son of the late August and Clara Pitzlen Wall. Hubert attended grade school at public schools in Laona and Blackwell. In early 1942 his family moved to Manitowoc. Hubert attended Washington Junior High School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. Hubert entered the United States Navy and served his country from September 1945 to September 1949. During his tour of duty Hubert served on the USS Samar and was stationed in Shanghai and Tsingtao, China for 1 ½ years followed by 2 ½ years in the Pacific Reserve Fleet in San Diego, CA. After completing his military service and receiving an honorable discharge Hubert returned to Manitowoc. In October 1952 he started a five year apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade at the former Frank J. Kerscher Company. Hubert worked with various contractors over the years and retired from Kleeman Sheet Metal in Sheboygan in September 1989. On November 4, 1966 he married Sylvia Ploeckelman Brull in Manitowoc. She preceded him on August 18, 1998. Hubert was a member of the International Sheet Metal Workers Union for 65 years. He served on the Manitowoc Building Trader Council for 22 years. Hubert was also a member of Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, and Manitowoc Sheet Metal Retiree Club. He enjoyed traveling in Michigan, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Canada, and the Great River Road of Western Wisconsin. Hubert enjoyed fishing when he was younger and took pride in completing nice duck carvings. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought a lot of enjoyment in his life.
He is survived by three children: Beth (Ryan) Dodge of Manitowoc and their son, Cory; his son Kevin Wall of Manitowoc who he lived with since 1998; his son James (Brenda) Wall of Sherwood and their children Simon, Audra, Graham, Elias, and Miles; one brother: George Wall, Manitowoc; one sister: Lorraine Bonk, Two Rivers; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: August and Clara Wall; wife: Sylvia; brother: Donald; sister-in-law: Donna Wall; brother-in-law: James Bonk.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
