Ione L. Voigt, age 93, a former longtime Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Sunset Ridge in Jefferson, WI.
Ione was born on September 3, 1924 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Mathilda Clasen Kolb. Ione attended various schools taking classes in tax work. She had been employed with Holy Family Hospital for five years followed by employment with H & R Block for five years and then worked with her husband Oliver at Voigt Tax Service for thirteen years. On October 1, 1946 she was married to Oliver E. Voigt at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Newtonburg. After their marriage they moved to Manitowoc where she resided for the next 63 years until 2009. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2008. Ione had been a long time and active member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Bethany Ladies Aid along with other church organizations. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener, sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Michael Hinz, Pickett; one son and two daughters-in-law: Vernon and Robin Voigt, Wilmette, IL and Karen Voigt, Waunakee; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one sister: Doris Wehausen, rural Valders; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Mathilda Kolb; husband: Oliver Voigt; son: Steven Voigt; brother and sister-in-law: Merlin and Irene Kolb; brother-in-law: Paul Wehausen.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p. m. and then on Tuesday at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
