Irene Rose Nushardt, age 97, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life early Friday morning, August 23, 2019 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc.

Irene was born on November 2, 1921 in Marquette, Michigan, the last of six children born to Ephram and Rose Soucy Parent who came from Canada.

Irene graduated from Graveret High School and on November 28, 1941 she married Wayne E. Carey from Sagola, MI. He preceded her in death January 18, 1981 after 40 years of marriage.  She later married William Nushardt from Kaukauna on Sweetest Day in 1994.  He preceded her in death in 2000.

Irene received awards for some of her many talents and hobbies. Her knitting, sewing, and art work were some of the things she gave to charity and others in need.  She was always there for family and close friends.  Irene will be missed, she is finally home and at peace at age 97.

She is survived by three children: Darlene (James) Brace, Dennis (Marilyn) Carey, and Timothy; five grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents:  Ephram and Rose Parent; husbands Wayne Carey and William Nushardt; an infant sister, one brother, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Blessed Angela Chapel at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc. Officiating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald Foley.  Burial will take place on Wednesday morning at Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette, Michigan.  Relatives and friends may call at the Blessed Angela Chapel at St. Mary's Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m.
