Obituary

Jack Richard Nasep, age 77, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at home with his loving family by his side.

On March 27, 1945, Jack was born in Poplar Bluff, MO to the late Jack and Faye (Nixon) Nasep.  He graduated from Poplar Bluff Senior High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO in 1967. In college, Jack excelled at basketball and track.

Jack served in the United States Army 7 th Infantry Division in Korea from 1967 to 1969. He served in Operations and Intelligence and was Honorably discharged in 1969. On February 18, 1972, Jack married Helen Shanks in Comanche, IA. Jack worked in retail stores for over 40 years including top management positions at K-Mart, TJ Maxx, Gander Mountain, and Walmart.

Jack liked to travel, fish for salmon in Lake Michigan, watch the Brewers, Packers, and college basketball. He volunteered tirelessly to connect parents to their birth children after they were adopted at birth. Jack had well over 400 birth "connections". Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen; daughter, Angie (Scott) Gunderson, Manitowoc; son, Jackson Nasep, (special friend Lora Han), North Hollywood, CA; granddaughter, Marlee  Meulemans, Oshkosh; two step-grandchildren, Shelby Gunderson (fiancé Priyank Machhar) Denver, CO; and Casey Gunderson, Manitowoc; sister, Donna (Dale) Lane, Jackson, MO; sister-in-law, Pat Whitiker, Tyler, TX; Diane (Rene) Montell, Ontario, CA; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Faye Nasep; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Martha Simpson; brother, Gary (Barb) Nasep; sister-in-law, Nancy Fugate; brother-in-law, Frank (Candy) Shanks; nephew, Ron Fugate; and grandson, Christopher.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Pastor Christine Dondlinger officiating.  Military rites will then be accorded at the funeral home by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731.  A reception will then follow at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
