Jacqueline "Jackie"
Marie (Scherer) Schaller
July 29, 1967 – July 13, 2025
Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie (Scherer) Schaller passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 29, 1967, to Kenneth and Sylvia Scherer, Jackie was raised and educated in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She dedicated much of her professional life to helping others as a medical assistant, working in both Manitowoc and La Crosse.
From a young age, Jackie had a deep love for animals—especially horses, dogs, and cats—and always had a pet or two by her side. She was known for taking in any little animal that needed help. She also had a special gift for gardening and found joy in planting and caring for her flowers and plants. In recent years, her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Sylvia Scherer; her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Birkholz and Todd Birkholz of Manitowoc; and her three cherished grandchildren, Taylynn, Emmett, and Wyatt. She is also survived by her son Alex Hansen and his wife Kali Hansen of Waukesha; sisters Rebecca Scherer and Melanie Scherer (Marshall Fanslau); brother Nick Scherer (Allison Scherer); nieces Tristan Petersen and Novaleigh Scherer; nephew Griffin Scherer; and a dear friend, Mark Schaller.
Jackie's ashes will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery, with her spirit returning to the shores of Sand Bay—where she spent her most cherished days of her youth. A private family celebration of her life will be held later in July. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses who provided Jackie with care and comfort throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jackie's name may be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society—an organization close to her heart.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
