Cornils
September 29, 1948 – November 27, 2024
James A. Cornils, age 76, a Maribel resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his home.
He was born September 29, 1948 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, son of the late Walter and Marcella (Weir) Cornils. James attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1967. Following high school, he served in the United States Army in the Military Police Corps during the Korean War. On November 8, 1980, he married Ramona Nicholson. He was employed with the Manitowoc Company for many years as well as Gaterman Manufacturing.
James is survived by his wife: Ramona Cornils; two children: Jerry (Rhonda) Cornils and Jennifer (Keith) Welnicke; four grandchildren: Ashley and Dillon Welnicke and Samuel and Ella Cornils; six siblings: Mary Jane Pond, JoAnn (Dale) Henry, Karen (Larry) Teesch, Barbara (Wayne) Gallas, Constance (John) McNellis, and Rick (Roxanne) Cornils; one sister-in-law: Irene Cornils; and two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Robert (Linda) Nicholson, Jon (Lisa) Nicholson, and Polly Carter. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Marcella Cornils; four siblings: Gladys (Victor) Witek, Paul Cornils, Marlene (Ed) Bessler, and John Cornils; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: George and Dorothy Nicholson; his special cat Einstein; and other relatives and friends.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a life celebration social will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. To conclude the life celebration at 3:00 p.m., military honors will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 of Manitowoc.
