James "Jimbo" Schleis, age 61, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.

Jimbo was born on November 24, 1961 in Manitowoc.  He was the son of the later Peter F. and Doris L. Heindl Schleis.  Jimbo attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1980.  He was employed with his father and brother at Schleis Auto Electric followed by employment with Lakeshore Hydraulics and then Bumper to Bumper Automotive Supply until the present time.  Jimbo was a longtime member of the Manitowoc Bowling Association and bowled in many of the local leagues and tournaments and also participated in playing hockey and soccer with local teams.  Jimbo was well known in the racing circuit for 26 years and was given the name "Mr. Nice Guy".  After retiring from racing Jimbo went to work for the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.  He was well known for his wit and sense of humor.

He is survived by his significant other, MaryBeth Rabideau and his pet dog Bama, Manitowoc, two sisters, Susan Schleis, and Nancy (Beau) Beaulieu, both of Manitowoc; two brothers, Bill (Laurel) Schleis, Manitowoc, and Tim (June Prestin) Schleis, Kiel, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter F. and Doris Schleis, and one brother, Peter G. Schleis.

Private memorial services for the family will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Klingeisen officiating.  Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.  A celebration of Jimbo's life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Tapped on the Lakeshore, 3114 Memorial Drive, Two Rivers, WI.
