Obituary

James G. Stone, age 69, a resident of Manitowoc and formerly of Milwaukee, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

James was born on February 17, 1944 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Ervin and Francis Stone Grabowski. He graduated from Bradley Tech and Trade School with the class of 1962. He was a state swimming champion and played high school football. James then went on to complete his education at UW Milwaukee by obtaining his degree in business. He began his working career at the Milwaukee Journal Company and also as a lifeguard at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee. James then became a life insurance agent for Prudential where he was their leading sales producer in the entire United States in the late 1970s. He continued on to be a business consultant for various companies and then started his own real estate development company. James was a very hard worker, had a talent for retaining information he read, and enjoyed teaching and helping others be successful. He liked spending his time watching Alabama football (Go Bama!), swimming, weightlifting, golfing with his son, and reading. James recently started ballroom dancing and found his favorite to be the tango.

Survivors include James' son: Kevin (Melissa) Grabowski, Pewaukee; two grandchildren: Dylan and Kayla; significant other: Cheryl Wegner, and her children: Samantha and Shealynn, Manitowoc; a good friend in Steve (Judy) Williams, Oconomowoc; and also his faithful companion, Fred (standard Schnauzer).

A life celebration social will be held at noon on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to come and share stories and memories of James. All are invited to attend a sit down meal which will be held at 1 p.m.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
