Jane V. Van Groll, formerly of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Azura Memory Care in Green Bay.
Jane was born on July 24, 1917 in Antigo to the late Anton and Rose Wimmer Hubatch. On February 11, 1946, Jane married John H. Van Groll in Antigo. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1987. Jane was very involved in her community and had served as a life long volunteer for numerous organizations. She completed her working career at UW Manitowoc where she had designed many continuing education programs. Jane enjoyed playing bridge, reading, biking, and being outdoors. She was an avid traveler and was able to visit all 7 continents. When Jane was 80, she hiked the North Rim of the Grand Canyon after previously completing the South Rim. She lived life well and had touched the lives of many. Jane cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends – especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Survivors include Jane's two daughters: Andrea (Patrick Simpson) Van Groll, Glendale; and Karen (George III) Edgren, Neenah; four grandchildren: Katherine and Edward Simpson, Tiffany and George Edgren IV; great granddaughter: Tavia Williams; also other relatives and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John; three brothers: Edward, Leonard, and Donald Hubatch; and five sisters: Sister Viola Hubatch, Helen Gresch, Caroline Damm, Cecelia Ostby, and Florence Ochse.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, S. 14th Street and Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment to take place at Calvary Mausoleum. Jane's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Azura (formerly Harbor House) for all the care they provided; and also to Holy Family Memorial Home Care for enabling Jane to remain in her home for many years.
