Janet Elizabeth
Montross
January 24, 1958 – June 29, 2022
Janet Elizabeth Montross passed onward surrounded by her family on June 29 th , 2022 due to complications from the cancer she courageously faced head on.
There is much to say about this beloved woman; She made her debut on January 24 th , 1958 to Robert and Roberta Montross, in Milwaukee, WI. Janet was light and love from her first breath. Her love for life and all that it entails was fierce, unconditional, unrivaled, and divine. Still is.
Throughout her lifetime, her gifts, talents, and passions were immeasurable. Since her earliest years, music was one of her most memorable gifts and enduring talents. She loved playing, learning, sharing, discovering, listening, and performing. When she wasn't getting lost in music one may have found her nose deep in a good book (she in particular loved Sir Terry Pratchett), or maybe making mosaics, sewing of all sorts, cooking/baking, photographing (she was known as the photo queen), graphic design, making jewelry; entertaining, learning new things, tending to her garden, crafting in many different capacities, enjoying a warm fire on a cool night, and taking care of all animals, to name a few.
One of the biggest things she also loved to do in life, and in her own words from a journal she wrote on such things is as follows, "Bringing Comfort - To people – by making a safe space for them, cooking/baking for them, supporting them emotionally, helping them to see new perspectives, helping to heal them, playing music for them.
Making my home a lovely and comforting place to be" .
She lived her life with a steadfast love and would light up a room just by being present. Her smile and laugh contagious. The warmth and depth of her soul unparalleled. Her capacity to give, unyielding. One simply could not have a bad time in her company. She was the 'Matron Saint' to so many and the Matriarch of the family.
Janet is survived by so many whom she loved beyond comprehension. Her three children; Alexander and wife Brenna; Samuel and wife Rose; and Eleanor. One grandchild which was her greatest wish in life, Oliver James. Sister Linda; Brothers; Keith and Kevin. Numerous nieces and nephews as well as countless other family and friends. To say she will be deeply missed is a wild understatement. Our love for her, and hers for us, will never fade. Thank you all for filling her life with same love and joy she unconditionally bestowed upon us all.
To share a snippet of a poem she wrote when Sir Terry Pratchett passed,
"And so it is that Death arrives,
When all the time has gone...
But dreams endure, and hope survives,
And Discworld carries on."
- Janet Montross
Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Life will be held for Janet at her home which she loved and more so, loved to entertain from. There will be plenty of food and beverages provided. All are most welcome. The only thing we ask that everyone refrain from wearing black as we want her home to filled with color and life. We all look forward to seeing you there to celebrate this amazing woman.
