Janice "Jan" A. Johnson, age 64, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life peacefully while surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 24, 2016 after a tough battle with cancer.

Jan was born on October 19, 1951 in Laona to the late Charles and Mary Leach Barney. She was a 1969 graduate of Laona High School. On November 28, 1969 she was married to Leonard "Lenny" Johnson. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2015. Jan and her late husband Lenny owned a vacation home in Wabeno where they could be found most weekends and summer holidays with family and friends. Jan was a certified Early Childhood teacher and was employed with the Manitowoc YMCA childcare before her retirement. She then worked part time with her daughter's home daycare. Jan enjoyed as much time as she could with her four year old granddaughter Morgan. She also enjoyed an occasional casino trip.

Jan will be missed by her two daughters: Laurie Johnson, Manitowoc; Melissa (Joe) Diener, Brillion; granddaughter: Morgan Diener; two sisters: Jean Miller, Two Rivers; Connie (Ed) Stark, Manitowoc; sister-in-law: Ina (Don) Lamb, Milwaukee; brothers-in-law: David (Betty) Johnson, Pulaski; Herb (Cindy) Peterson, Manitowoc; Robert Hubbard, Pulaski; along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lenny Johnson; parents: Charles and Mary Barney; sister: Christine (Robert) Craw; three brothers-in-law: Edward (Delores) Johnson, William Johnson, and Gary (Rose) Johnson; three sisters-in-law: Hilma Hubbard, Effie (Norbert) Rass, and Patsy Wobszal.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Holy Family Cancer Care Center, the nurses at St. Vincent Hospital, Unity Hospice, and Fr. Dave Pleier. Special thanks also to Ed, Connie, Julie, Steve, Frank, Rita and Rebecca for all of their help during Jan's treatments along with a thank you to Jan's neighbor Steve for all of his help this past winter.
