Jean C. Welnicke, age 68, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital, Stevens Point.

She was born July 5, 1957 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Carlton) Coombs. Jean attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1975. On September 6, 1980 she married Joseph E. Welnicke at St. James Episcopal Church in Manitowoc. Jean was employed as a secretary at the Manitowoc County Health Department in Manitowoc, retiring after 26 years. Jean enjoyed a good book, a walk in the woods, and when she was younger, camping in the UP with her family. Family was the most important thing to her and she cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and other family members.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 45 years: Joseph Welnicke; two daughters: Kelly (Eric) Stahl, Sun Prairie, WI, and Lisa (Dustin) Fahney, Stevens Point; four grandchildren: Eden and Elise Stahl and Lyla and Colin Fahney; one brother: Leonard (Shirley) Coombs Jr.; two sisters: Margaret (Robert) Turnbull and Ann (Robert) Barbier; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Margaret Coombs; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edwin and Geraldine Welnicke.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. Jean's sister Margaret Turnbull will lead the service, and Jean will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Following the service, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, located on the southside property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
