Jeffrey J.
Stahl
July 27, 1958 – May 29, 2024
Jeffrey J. Stahl, "Tonto," passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family that he loved, on May 29, 2024, at age 65. Jeff was born on July 27, 1958, to Sylvan Stahl and Nancy Stahl in Manitowoc. He attended JFK Prep in St. Nazianz and graduated from Reedsville High School. Jeff married Kristy Hartlaub on August 14, 1982, at St. Michael's Church in Whitelaw. He started a career in truck driving with his father. After the birth of their first daughter Candi, they moved to Hernando, FL, where they also welcomed their other two daughters Tiffany and Melissa. He continued his truck driving career in Florida while operating a restaurant with Kristy. In 1998, the family moved back to Whitelaw to be closer to family. Toward the end of his 35-year career in the trucking industry, Kristy and Jeff, along with their daughter Candi and son-in-law Paul, opened Cravings - Home of Kristy's Cakes in Whitelaw in 2011. Jeff genuinely had an interest in people and had a true gift of making everyone feel welcome. After a decade of serving customers and telling elaborate stories, they retired the bakery in November of 2022. In retirement, Jeff, along with Kristy, enjoyed their '65 Mustang convertible, camping, traveling, being outdoors, and drinking old fashioneds.
Jeff was a devoted husband to Kristy for 42 years. In that time they enjoyed many cruises, trips to the Caribbean, and family vacations. He was a loving father to his three daughters and their spouses Candi (Paul) Chamberlain, Tiffany (Aaron) Lindemann, and Melissa (Tim) Braun. He taught them to have a strong work ethic while still enjoying life and being silly. Jeff was a proud grandfather to Charlotte Chamberlain; Isaiah, Abigail, Samuel, Malachi, Ezra, and Boaz Lindemann. He loved to connect with the grandkids by watching cartoons - especially SpongeBob, and goofing around with them. He will also be missed by his siblings Tim Stahl (Juan), Terri Neinow (Pete), Casey Stahl, Andy Stahl, Darcy Peterson (Chris), Sylvan Stahl Jr., and half-brother Travis Stahl; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Judy and Marvin Hartlaub; sister-in-law Kathy Marshall (Steve); brothers-in-law Keith Hartlaub (Jodi) and Kurt Hartlaub (Lori); many aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Kevin Hartlaub.
Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Crematory Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The Funeral Service will be at 12:00 noon and officiated by Rev. Jason Blahnik.
