Joan Pozorski
Herrmann
August 4, 1946 – December 11, 2017
Joan (Pozorski) Herrmann, age 71, most recently of Mountain Home, Arkansas, was called to Eternal Life on Monday, December 11, 2017, due to complications from surgery on January 5, 2017. Joan was surrounded by her family.
Joan was born on August 4, 1946 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Lambert Pozorski. Joan attended schools in Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1964. She then went on to work in the family business until her retirement. On August 6, 1966 she married John Herrmann. Their next 51 years were spent together raising and nurturing their family and enjoying their children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Mom's favorite past-times were reading books, especially while sitting on her front porch in the warm Mountain Home, Arkansas weather, collecting windchimes and playing computer games. She also enjoyed traveling to places like Washington D.C with her daughter and granddaughter, Raychel, trips to Hawaii, New Mexico to visit her son, house boat trips to Canada where she was able to fish and have spaghetti food fights with her grandchildren, vacations from California to Connecticut and everywhere in-between. Together Joannie and John also enjoyed trips to Florida to visit special friends during the winter months. She loved to listen to all varieties of music, but her greatest enjoyment in music was listening to her granddaughter, Jemma, sing. We are confident mom was able to hear Jemma sing her favorite song "I Will Always Love You" while she was taking her final journey home. Mom's pride and joy were by far her granddaughters, Jemma (Honey Buns) and Raychel (Love Bug) and her great-granddaughter, Jordyn (Punkin). She looked forward to visits from the grandchildren and the smile on her face and twinkle in her eye each time she saw them was a true testament to the love she had for them.
Joan is survived by her husband: John; three children: Michael Herrmann, Phillip Herrmann, and Anne Marie Herrmann-Hein and fiancé, Doug Allen; two grandchildren: Jemma Rey Herrmann and Raychel Marie Hein; one great granddaughter: Jordyn Rae Herrmann; three brothers: Joseph (Lynn) Pozorski Jr., Anthony Pozorski, and Michael Pozorski; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a very special friend since childhood, her partner in crime, Joan Jaeger. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Alice Pozorski; her son: Christopher Herrmann; and one brother: Robert Pozorski.
A memorial service for relatives and friends to celebrate Joan's life will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Pleier with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the memorial service there will be a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff at Cornerstone for the special and caring services they provided. Her "Angels on Earth"; Ashley, Rhonda, Sandy, Jessica, Monica, Jodie and Dr. R often times went above and beyond their duties. From Jodie sitting with Mom so she wasn't alone, to Rhonda reading The Scarlett Letter to Mom after a conversation they had in which Mom stated the one regret she had was not having finished reading the book, to Sandy painting Mom's nails. That kind of care was priceless to Mom as well as comforting to the family.
"Mom, I have missed you more than you know, and will miss you every day until we are together again. I miss our daily talks/texts about everything from parenting issues/questions, to the newest t.v. shows, the weather here compared to Mountain Home and all the laughs we had when we finished each others sentences, to the dismay of those around us. I have thought so many times "I have to call Mom and tell her…" only to realize you won't answer. I think about all the graduations, birthdays, holidays, weddings and get togethers you won't be at, but I know you will be smiling down on us. You are missed more than you could ever imagine. So, until we meet again, thank you for being my Mom and loving us all the way only you could." As you and Raychel told one another at every parting: "I love you bunches and bunches, noodles and noodles, all around the world"
