John J. Bebow, age 89, formerly of 1485 N. 7th St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
John was born on April 21, 1923 in Grimms, WI to the late John H. and Elizabeth W. Grimm Bebow. He entered the United States Army in 1942 and served overseas in Europe with General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge. John received numerous medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star; he was honorably discharged in 1946. On February 26, 1949, John married Elizabeth "Bette" Rathsack at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Bette preceded him in death on March 21, 2000. John was employed by the Spindler Company for 25 years and later by the R.J. Fricke Company for 10 years. He retired in 1985. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659.
Survivors include one son, John J. (Rebecca) Bebow, of Katy, TX; one daughter, Laurie Stoeger, of Mapleton, MN; four grandchildren, Karl and David Stoeger, and Jennifer and Elizabeth Bebow; one great grandchild, Ella Stoeger; one sister, Elizabeth Karbon, of Manitowoc; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Elizabeth Bebow; wife, Bette; six sisters and two brothers.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Zachary DeArmond will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

John's family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff who lovingly cared for John during the months he spent at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. They would also like to thank special friends Dorothy and Van Neff who extended Christian love, caring, and friendship to John during his last months of life.
