John J. Pitroski, age 88, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his residence.
John was born on December 4, 1925 in Abrams, WI to the late John and Anna Dyda Pitroski. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 1, 1951, John married Dorothy M. Szalewski in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2004. John was employed for 33 years at Manitowoc Public Utilities until his retirement in 1988. He was also active in real estate sales and auctioneering. John was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and St. Vincent de Paul.
Survivors include John's two children: JoAnn (Thomas) Zdun, Pittsville; and Timothy (Janet) Pitroski, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Zachary, Jack, Hannah, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Christopher; great grandson: Hunter; brother: Paul Pitroski; sister: Adeline Piorkowski; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents: John and Anna Pitroski; wife: Dorothy; four brothers: Stanley, Julius, Walter, and Leo Pitroski; three sisters: Bernice O'Leske, Marie O'Leske, and Sophie Ziarnik.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand – 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Beaudry with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The visitation will continue at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
