Obituary

John Rusch, 82, of Mishicot, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Copperstone in Neenah. Born May 29, 1942, in Sheboygan, he was the son of the late Edward and Mildred Rusch.

John spent most of his life in the Mishicot and Manitowoc area. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany, Ft. Bliss, and other locations. He wore many hats throughout his career, working in road construction, on an extended family farm, and in the automotive department at Montgomery Wards.

In 1973, John married the love of his life, Kay Delay. Together, they raised four children and celebrated 50 years of marriage just a few years ago. John became a stay-at-home dad in the 1980s. He took to his homemaking role with finesse, developing his cooking, baking and homecare skills.

John was a man who thrived on projects and hobbies. He cherished time in his woodshop, crafting intricate wood-inlay creations. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting with family and friends. John was happiest 'puttering' in his garden, tending to his fruit trees, or enjoying a friendly game of cribbage, Shanghai, foosball, or bowling – even traveling to bowling tournaments across the US.

Summer vacations at Semerios' Cabin on Little Sturgeon and annual extended family gatherings at the Pool House were cherished traditions that created lasting memories for his children and grandchildren.

John leaves behind a loving family: his children Andrew Rusch, Cynthia (Kory) Wyant, Edwin (Angela) Rusch, and Henry (Cherry) Rusch; ten grandchildren; and his sister, Ann Jung. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Kay, grandson Evanton Rusch, and many dear friends.
