Obituary

Jon L. Schmidt, age 52, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 25, 1973 in Manitowoc, son of Kathy (LaPointe) Bruette and the late John "Jack" L. Schmidt. Jon attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, and spent many dedicated years working with Mike Howe Builders. On March 28, 2024 he married Charlene Mraz. He enjoyed bonfires, camping, grilling, video games, and flying his drone. Above all, Jon loved spending time with his family.

Jon is survived by his wife: Charlene Schmidt; his children: Tristen Mraz, Dillen Weber, Brooklen Mraz, and Abriel Knapp; his mother: Kathy (John) Bruette; siblings: Sandy Reichard (Joe Shimek), Tom Schmidt, Jodi (Ken) Schamburek, Amy Campbell (Tony Junk), Pam (Mark) LeGreve, Jason Schmidt (Mary-Kate O'Hara), Rebecca (Mike) Hetue, John Bruette, Rochelle (Ben) Domondon, Carol Ronski, and Ron (Sandra) Ronski; father-in-law: LeRoy (Barb) Mraz and mother-in-law: Sandra (Jeff) Brantmeier; brother-in-law: Shannon Mraz (significant other: Mary Cahak); sister-in-law: Ryan Mraz; special nephew: Patrick Davis; friend: Eric Morris; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: John L. Schmidt; step-mother: Jean Gilbert; and one brother-in-law: Kenneth Mraz.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 2109 Marshall Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Jon's brother-in-law, Deacon Mark LeGreve. Jon will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Jon's family to assist with medical and funeral expenses.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mike Howe and his crew as well as Kyla Carrio for the love, care, and support they have shown. Also, a special thank you to the nurses and staff of St. Luke's Aurora Medical Center, Milwaukee, especially Autumn and Emma, for the care and compassion they have given to Jon and his family. The family is also thankful for the many mailbox angels that dropped off donations and gifts that helped the family along the way.
