Obituary

Joyce Patricia Wright of Manitowoc, Wisconsin passed away on March 15, 2024, at the age of 78. She was surrounded by family and a number of very close friends.

Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, she met and married Leonard Wright and began an exciting life, living in South Carolina, New Jersey, Upper Michigan and Wisconsin. On January 20,1973, she and Leonard dedicated their life as Jehovah's Witnesses. For over 50 years, she was very active in a number of congregations in Dollar Bay, Michigan; Wausau, Wisconsin; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and recently in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She had the privilege of serving as a full time minister in 1987 and 1988. Over the years Joyce developed many long term friendships. She was known for her love, empathy and deep concern for her friends. She knew everyone's anniversary and was never late with a card. She loved to buy flowers for people and bought many beautiful gifts for her friends. Even as her health deteriorated and kept her home, she never stopped showing loving concern for all of her friends and family. Joyce loved flowers, her favorites being the Blue Hydrangea and White Magnolia.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leonard; her brother Bobby Rentz of Monroe, North Carolina; two sons, James Wright and his wife Lisa of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Robert Wright of Miami, Florida. Joyce had three grandsons: Jake Wright and his fiancée Melody, from Florence, Kentucky; Spenser Wright and his wife Sydney of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Jeff Manke and his wife Ashton, of Cape Coral Florida. She had one granddaughter, Morgan Sherman and her husband Derek, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Joyce was especially proud to have five great-grandchildren: Elliot, Peyton and Stevin Wright of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Kirra and Micah Manke of Cape Coral, Florida. She is also survived by her cat, Charlie. Joyce had many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William Durward Rentz and Ollie Mae Rentz; six brothers and sisters: June Evans, William Rentz, Doris Rentz, Alice Christie, Jimmy Rentz, and Donald Rentz.

The family would like to thank the many medical professionals who worked hard to help care for Joyce: Doctor Andrew Yetter and all his staff at the Aurora Cancer Center, Traveling Nurses Heather and Nicole, and Holly at the Aurora ER desk, who was always there with a smile.
