Judith "Judy" H. Casey, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her home.
She was born December 29, 1943 in Melrose Park, Illinois, daughter of the late Rodger and Dorothy (Sobanski) Hammill. Judy attended East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Illinois, graduating with the class of 1963. Following high school, she attended Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and later attended Freeman Business College in Forrest Park, Illinois. Judy married Robert Casey in North Lake, Illinois on April 12, 1980. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2022. She was employed as a secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Utica, New York, and then with DuPont, where she retired in 1993 with the title of Regional Secretary for Customer Service. Judy was also past president and board member of Des Plaines Ladies of the Elks, which she was very passionate about. She was also a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Franklin Park, Illinois. Judy was a talented ballroom dancer and also had a special interest in dogs and horses.
Judy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Thomas (Rebecca) Hammill; one niece: Elizabeth (Matt) Monaco; one nephew: Andrew Hammill (Jason Mida); two great-nieces: Ruth and Eve Monaco; two step-daughters: Kim Bell and Kris Casey; two step-grandchildren: Katie and Joseph; one step-great-grandson: Kyle Mesnard; her close friend: Angie Hahn; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rodger and Dorothy Hammill; and her husband: Robert Casey.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and private family services will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com .
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice as well as her neighbor Ted, for the care and compassion they have shown to her.
