Obituary

Karen I. Junk, age 75, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at her home.

She was born September 24, 1950 in Newton, daughter of the late Arthur and Rosa (Baer) Stein. Karen attended Kiel High School, graduating with the class of 1968. She worked at Cleveland State Bank for many years as well as Butch's Oasis, now Smiling Moose of Osman. She then worked at Homes for Independent Living until her retirement. After her retirement, she assisted in taking care of a very special friend, Ryan Mueller. Karen enjoyed doing puzzles and word search as well as gardening and tending to her flowers. Above all, she loved spoiling and spending time with her grandsons.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Trish (David) Klein, grandsons Nathan and Matthew Klein, siblings: Rosemary (Clyde) Weiland, Arthur Stein Jr., Joan (Michael) Ostertag, Rosann Hermans, and her sisters-in-law: Marcy Stein and Nancy Stein. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was proceeded in death by her son Troy Junk, her former husband Wayne Junk, siblings Raymond (Virginia) Stein, Maryann (Jerry) Kreps, Lucille (Joseph) Binder, Father Norbert Stein, Harold Stein, Margaret Stein, and Kenneth Stein, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Stein and Steve Hermans.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Karen will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth, at a later date.
