Obituary

Karen Elizabeth (Taddy) Voigt, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at her home in Valders.  She was born on March 28, 1944, the daughter of Leonard and Alice (Lorrigan) Taddy in Coral Gables, Florida.  On June 11, 1966 she married Arden Voigt at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple Grove, Wisconsin.

She received her early education in Maple Grove and St. Nazianz.  Karen attended Silver Lake College and received her B.A. in Education.  She went on to receive her Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.  Karen worked as a teacher and guidance counselor for the Kiel Area School District for 26 years.  She also served as a naturalist with Conservation Education Inc. at the Collins Marsh Nature Center in Collins.

Karen enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends in Florida.  She always enjoyed being with animals, including her beloved golden retriever, Ginger Snap.

Survivors include her husband, Arden of Valders; son, Austin (Bailey) Voigt of Stevens Point; sister, Lynn (Douglas) Williams of Sarasota, Florida; brothers, Wayne (Steve) Taddy of Reno, Nevada and Richard (Darla) Taddy of Maple Grove; sisters-in-law, Diane Taddy of Reedsville and Ardith Kupsh of Valders; and nieces and nephews, Steve (Tara) Taddy, Casey (Becky) Taddy, Mike (Stephanie) Taddy, all of Reedsville, Danielle (Nick) Poveromo of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheri Lynn (Jamie) Tiernan of Decatur, Georgia, Steve (Lana) Thompson of New Braunfels, Texas, Corey (Michele) Kupsh of Valders, and Jordan Kupsh of Denver, Colorado.

Karen is also survived by Shelly (Leon) Nadler of Kiel, who she always considered as her daughter.  Shelly and her children: Chris, Ryan, and Shana were always an important part of Karen's life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Alice Taddy; brothers, Gregory Taddy; father and mother-in-law, Lester and Elva Voigt; and brother-in-law, John Kupsh.

A Life Celebration Social will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the funeral home.  Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.  Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com .

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Aurora at Home Hospice staff, M.J. with Manitowoc Home Care, neighbors, Blake and Kayleen Halderson, and friends at the Cove in Florida.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Karen's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
