Kristy Lynn Johanek, 48, of Manitowoc, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at River's Bend Health Services, Manitowoc, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

She was born on March 3, 1973 in Manitowoc to James and Gail (Sieker) Johanek.  Kristy attended school and grew up in Manitowoc.  Many remember her visits and conversations as she rode her bike around the city.  Her friendship was cherished by many as she was described as very outgoing, spunky, not shy or judgmental, kind, and loving.  She especially loved her family.

Over the years, Kristy was heavily involved with the Special Olympics in Manitowoc County.  She competed in track and field, bowling, softball, basketball, Bocce, and swimming.  Kristy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.  She was employed at Ascend Services, formerly Holiday House, where she was very dedicated to her job.  She enjoyed the many friendships formed while working.

Survivors include her father and step-mother, Jim and Linda Johanek of DePere; brother, Mike Johanek of DePere; step-siblings; aunts and uncles; cousins; and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Gail Johanek; and grandparents.

A Life Celebration Social for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  A prayer service by Rev. Zachary DeArmond and time of sharing will conclude the evening.  Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com .
