Obituary

Our loving father, Larry Allen Satori, 77, of the town of Liberty, passed away peacefully at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Green Bay on December 13, 2025, in the presence of his sons and daughters-in-law, after showing cancer who was boss for 27 years!

He was born on May 4, 1948, at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, to the late John P. and Gertrude Satori.  Larry grew up on the family farm on Hartlaub Lake Road, attended Newtonburg School, St. Joseph of Alverno, and the Manitowoc Public School System, graduating from Lincoln High with the class of 1966.  He was drafted to the US Army, was assigned to the 34th Engineer Battalion in Vietnam, as a generator operator, and carried out his service honorably.  On July 18, 1970 he married the most loving, caring person in the world, Sharon Lee Bergene, and they started their family, eventually having three sons, Craig, Chris and Chad.

Larry was a member of the Iron Workers Union, Local 8, traveling to jobs across the state, often in the same vehicle with his father, brothers, or a brother-in-law who were all iron workers. In 1975, Larry and Sharon, along with brother Clyde and sister-in-law Cindy, purchased the family farm as a partnership.  For many years the iron work and farming overlapped, but they and their families cared for a registered Holstein herd with the "LCS-Farm" prefix, breeding high-producing, show-winning cattle for decades.  He was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in 1998 and not long after, the cows were sold and the farm evolved to cash-cropping.

Larry and Sharon purchased a "cabin" in Land O' Lakes, WI, where they escaped to enjoy hunting, fishing, visiting the casino in Watersmeet, MI, slow down and take in the Northwoods.  Larry continued to spend time at the cabin after Sharon passed away in 2021.  Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter, with only the recent 2025 gun-deer season being the first time he didn't get to hunt. They were proud that their sons all earned college degrees, happy that they brought some daughters into the family via marriage, and were gifted with eight unbelievable grandsons who they thought the world of and loved.  Larry battled and beat cancer for 27 years until this November when it was determined that the CLL had become resistant to the chemotherapy drugs and that his earthly body had done all it could to fight the good fight.  May he be welcomed into Heaven by Jesus, his wife, and the open arms of all those friends and family who have gone to eternal rest before him. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Survivors include sons Craig (Janel), Chris (Kelly) Chad (Anne), grandsons Jack (fiancé Madi), Kenneth, Brady, Kyle, Nathan, Elliot, Miles and Cooper; brothers and sisters-in-law John (Susie) Satori and Clyde (Cindy) Satori; a sister and brother-in-law Sharon (Dale) Kerstein; his family of in-laws, Norman Gill, Randy Bergene, Ronald Bergene, Janelle Schisel, Linda (Richard) Menza, Mary Bergene, Darlene Bergene, Connie Hedler and Carol Pagel; and countless nieces and nephews whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Satori, parents, John P and Gertrude Satori; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Eleanor Bergene; brothers Melvin Satori and wife Helen, Jerry Satori and wife Jeanne; sisters Marlene Gill, Janice Lensmeyer and husband Lloyd "Sonny" Lensmeyer, Jacqueline Satori; brothers-in-law, Keith "Sonny" Bergene, Jerrold Bergene, Mike Bergene, Howard Drews, Sr., Ron Hedler, Donald Schisel; sisters-in-law Shirley Bergene, Marcia Bergene; a niece Susie (Dimmick) Hornburg and a nephew Scott Bergene.

The family would like to thank the Emplify by Bellin Cancer Team, with special mention to Dr. Hassan Tahsildar who treated Larry beginning in 2010 and helped preserve a very high quality of life over the last two decades. We thank Cassy who cared for our father like he was her grandfather during treatments and transfusions over the years.  We also thank the Emplify by Bellin ICU – to the nurses and staff who cared for him over a number of visits in recent months, with special mention of Elana, who took the time to know Dad, share stories of their lives, and continued to see him at Edenbrook – your personal touch will always be remembered.  Finally, to so many family members and friends who had a chance to say goodbye in his final days – you'll never know what that meant to him – an early Christmas gift from God.
