LaVern H. Ross, age 95, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Sunday evening, January 15, 2017 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

LaVern was born on April 9, 1921 in Shiocton, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Mitchell and Esther Gallow Ross. LaVern attended Washington High School in Two Rivers. In 1942 he entered the United States Air Force and served overseas during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. LaVern was employed at the Manitowoc City Waste Water Treatment Plant as the assistant superintendent. On April 17, 1943 he married Vernetta E. Daetz in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2000. LaVern was an active and longtime member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church where he had also served on the church council. His lifetime passion was tinkering and coming up with inventive ways to make thing work for himself and others. Lavern was a jack of all trades.

He is survived by three daughters: Bonnie (Howard) McKenzie, Gilbert AZ; Beverly (Jim) Steeber, Ladysmith; Wendy (Rod) Cronkite-Ross, Burlington, IL; daughter-in-law: Lynn Ross, Greenfield; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mitchell and Esther Ross; wife: Vernetta; son: Terry; and sister: Lola Mae McEntire.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2426 North Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Thomas Pankow. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at Grave Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
