LaVerne E. Froelich, age 96, of St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, formerly of 2025 Sharon Lane, Manitowoc, entered into eternal life Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Home.

Vern was born September 6, 1915 in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County. He was the son of the late George and Augusta Frank Froelich. Vern was a graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1933. He then continued his education at LaSalle University in Chicago, Illinois graduating on September 25, 1935. Vern was an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company before he purchased the Two Rivers News Agency, bus station and gift shop in 1946. He later sold the business and became employed in advertising as a sales representative for several local radio stations, Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter and later as the manager of the classified advertising department. Vern also was the advertising manager of the Farmer's Friend. After 30 years of employment, Vern retired on January 1, 1980. On August 27, 1938 he married Leola M. Krueger at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on October 2, 2007.

Vern was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Golden Kiwanis Club, Manitowoc Historical Society, Manitowoc Senior Center and the Conservaton Education Association. In past years he was also active with the Two Rivers Lions Club and the Hamilton Band. Vern was an avid Green Bay Packer football fan.

He is survived by one niece: Kathy (Pete) Daubner, Madison, WI; four nephews: Jay (Sue) Krueger, Green Bay, WI; Tom Krueger, Green Bay, WI; Russell (Nan) Krueger, Watertown, WI; Robert (special friend Jeanne Berthiume) Krueger, Green Bay, WI; one goddaughter: Mary Muller, DePere, WI; one cousin: John (Julie) Woodcock, Manitowoc, WI; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Augusta Froelich; and his wife: Leola M. Froelich.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 901 Pine Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Nicholas Maglietto and Rev. Paul Schossow. Burial will follow at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Relatives and friends may call at Immaneul Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel Ev., Lutheran Church.
