Obituary

LaVerne H. Keune, age 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 23, 2026.

She was born on November 7, 1942, the eldest of twelve children to the late Eugene and Dorothy (Franz) Litersky Sr. From an early age, LaVerne embraced her role as the oldest sibling, carrying that sense of care and responsibility with her throughout her life.

LaVerne is lovingly survived by her four children: Irene (Terry) Secora, Darwin Keune, Daniel Keune, and Keith Keune; her six grandchildren: Caitlyn Keune, Karissa Secora (Justin Cossette), Benjamin Secora, Emma Rosinsky (Derek), Brianna Keune, and Bailey Keune; and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sisters: Germaine Dehne, Patricia Kohlman, Irene (Dale Sr.) Greenwood, and Diane LeCaptain (Bill Bowlin); her brothers: James Sr. Litersky and Robert Litersky; one brother-in-law, Dale Ferron; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Eugene Litersky Jr., Joseph (Alice) Litersky, and Mark Litersky; her sisters: Joanne Ferron and Janet Litersky; her sisters-in-law: Barb Litersky and Sue Litersky; her brothers-in-law: Edward Dehne and William Kohlman Sr.; and her grandson, Curtis.

LaVerne spent much of her life working as a cook, bartender, and seamstress. These were more than just occupations—they were expressions of who she was. She had a strong work ethic and took pride in staying busy, creating with her hands, and making sure those around her were cared for and well fed.

She had a playful, lighthearted side and enjoyed going out for meals with family, especially her sisters. She loved watching the Hallmark Channel, feeding the birds, and keeping a watchful eye on the wildlife around her home. She was the "mom" that watched over the tenants at her apartment building where she resided for the past 19 years.

LaVerne had a special fondness for winter and often wished for one more big snowfall. Her wish was granted with a memorable storm in mid-March, "Blizzard Elsa" with 24" of snow, bringing a final touch of joy to the season she loved.

A private family gathering will be held in memory of LaVerne.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family would appreciate spring flowers that can be planted in memory of LaVerne.
