Obituary

Lorraine L. Goessl, age 83, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.

She was born April 12, 1939 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Alvin and Olive (Worel) Boettcher. Lorraine attended school in the Mishicot School District, graduating from high school with the class of 1957. On June 17, 1961 she married Walter Goessl Jr. at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2016. Lorraine worked early in her life and then remained a homemaker when she started her family. She loved gardening, playing cribbage and sheephead, and going on weekends away with her family. Above all, Lorraine loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son: Joel Goessl, Manitowoc; four daughters: Sue Preston, Manitowoc; Mary (Joe) Kiel, Manitowoc; Patti (Keith) Waack, Two Rivers, and Lynn (Greg) Franz, Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Liz), Tessa (Cory), Bobby, Alexis, Zack, Olivia, Austin, Krystal, Lucas, Reigha, and Rinoa; four great-grandchildren: Justin, Kian, Elowen, and Finnick; three brothers: Edward (Penny) Boettcher, Ohio, Alvin Boettcher, Manitowoc, and Gordon (Darlene) Boettcher, Mishicot; one sister-in-law: Karen Boettcher, Mishicot; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Eugene (Terry) Goessl, Sun Prairie. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Goessl Jr.; her parents; two infant sons; one son-in-law: Tom Preston; one grandson: Hunter Preston; one brother: Ernie Boettcher; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Delores (Ed) Knapp and Elaine (Vince) Posvic; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Jason Blahnik with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc. Following the committal service at the cemetery, social gathering for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
