Passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, at age 92. She was born on September 8, 1932, to Clarence and Irma (Meyer) Alter. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950 and remained in Manitowoc until her passing. Margaret loved all things cars and spent many an afternoon with her lifelong Bridge and Sheepshead friends.

Margaret is survived by her sister Audrey Schmidt, six nieces and nephews, nine grand nieces and nephews, and two great-grand nephews. She is also survived by cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Robert Schmidt, and other extended family members.

A Life Celebration Social will be held at Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water St., Manitowoc, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
