Obituary

Margaret E. Freis, age 98, of 10621 Westview Road, town of Newton, entered eternal life on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Margaret was born on June 10, 1912 in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County. She was the daughter of the late Anton and Theresa Kaltenbrun Schleh. In past years Margaret worked on the farm with her husband Gordon and also worked for many families and businesses with cleaning services. On May 22, 1933 she married Gordon Freis in Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1989. She was a long time member of St. John St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church in Cleveland.

She is survived by 9 grandchildren: Bonnie (Robert) Jost; Lois (Dale) Schroeder; Sherry (John) Jost; Rickey (Sandy) Haupt; Penny Haupt; Greg Haupt; Justin (Karrie) Freis; Jesse Freis; Tyler Freis; 16 great grandchildren: Jason (Holly) Jost; Julie (Nick) Herzfeldt; Jodi (Wayne) Popp; Andrew Schroeder and special friend Amanda Schmitt; Sarah (Scott) Larson; Lucas (Amber) Schroeder; Rickey Haupt, Jr and his fiancé Natasha; Riley Haupt; Ryan Haupt; Nicole Haupt; Joseph Jost; Desiree Haupt; Austin Haupt; Destiny Haupt; Kaitlyn Freis; Edward Freis; 10 great great grandchildren: Alyssa, Tanner, and Morgan Jost; Brittany and Becca Herzfeldt; Mitchell and Jordin Popp; Quianna and Hunter Haupt; Mason Haupt; daughter-in-law: Diane Steinman; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends including her card club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Gordon Freis October 21, 1989; son: Edward Freis, January 22, 1997; daughter: Ruby Haupt, May 14, 1984 and her husband Glenn, February 21, 2001; 2 great grandsons.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. John St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, 1255 W. Washington Street, Cleveland, WI. Officiating will be Rev. David M. Endorf with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 o'clock noon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or St. John St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church.

The family would like to convey their heartfelt thanks to Rev. Endorf, Dr. Herring, Dr. Jordan and caring staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
