Obituary

Margaret "Marge" M. Burkart, age 96, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc.

Marge was born on February 4, 1928 in Clarks Mills to the late Louis and Agnes Denk. She graduated from Valders High School. On May 26, 1951, she married Fred Burkart at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. Marge was employed at Imperial Eastman and St Mary's Nursing Home. Marge loved perfecting her many flower gardens and showing them off to visitors. She was a great cook and prepared many holiday meals for her family over the years. Marge was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include her three children: Jim (Ann) Burkart, Whitelaw; Kim Waack, Appleton; and Bradley (Lisa) Burkart, Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren: Carissa (Scott) Dembraski, Jaimie (Ryan) Timm, Andrew and Rachel Burkart; three great grandchildren: Hailey and Lucy Timm and Kaileb Dembraski; sisters Georgiana Witt and Patrcia Crittendon; and other relatives and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Fred, daughter Cheryl "Sherry" DeRoche, parents: Louis and Agnes Denk; brothers Louis Denk III and infant John Denk, and sisters: Delores (Robert) Kohlbeck, Irene (Art) Zipperer, Ruth (Leroy) McCarthy, and Elizabeth (Robert) Christel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel. A Life Celebration Social will follow at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water St., from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Marge's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Marge's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Terry and Autumn of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their compassionate care.
