Marian E. Cherney, age 91, of 908 North 24th Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Monday evening, April 27, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Marian was born December 27, 1923 in Denmark, WI. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Krynes Kozlovsky. Marian graduated from Denmark High School and continued her education at the Manitowoc Business College. After college she became employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding, then the Swan Club in DePere followed by employment as a secretary at the Wisconsin State Bank in Green Bay. Marian then returned to the Denmark area where she farmed for the next 15 years followed by moving back to Manitowoc where she became employed at Manitowoc Engineering as a secretary until she retired in 1988. Marian loved to crochet, knitting was her favorite and she also enjoyed ceramics for many years. Marian was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a past member of the VFW Denmarck Community Post #6705 Auxiliary in Denmark, Wisconsin. On August 4, 1945 she married Robert J. Cherney at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Denmark. .
She is survived by her husband of 69 years: Bob; one daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Richard Zeitler, Gays Mills, WI; one grandson: Christopher (Sarah) Zeitler, Middleton, WI; two great grandchildren: Keagyn and Kendall; along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Lillian Kozlovsky; and one grandson: Todd Zeitler.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Following the funeral services a luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
