Marilyn June Anklam, age 83, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
Marilyn was born on May 12, 1943 in Manitowoc to the late Edward and Norma (Everson) Huebner. She was baptized into God’s family and confirmed in her Christian faith at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. After graduating from First German Ev. Lutheran School, Marilyn was proud to be a part of Manitowoc Lutheran High School’s 2nd graduating class in 1961. She went on to attend Dr. Martin Luther College until accepting an emergency call to teach in Racine, then First German Ev. Lutheran School. While working a summer job at Mirro Corporation, Marilyn met the love of her life, Glen Anklam. They were united in marriage at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on June 20, 1964. Glen preceded her in death on December 31, 1995. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Marilyn worked 25 + years in the photography business between Vassar and Welnetz Studios. Glen introduced her to the “most beautiful place on earth”, the Buckhorn Lodge in Pembine, WI. Despite her distaste of the outdoors, she cherished all the times spent with multiple generations of her family at the cabin. Marilyn was a kind and loving person that was always there to offer a helping hand to her church, friends and family. She especially enjoyed travelling throughout Wisconsin to attend her grandchildren’s activities. Marilyn was so very proud to be included in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active volunteer at Manitowoc Lutheran High School and First German, including teaching Sunday School for over 30 years.
Survivors include Marilyn’s four children, Julie (Theran) Welsh, Madison; Jean (Daniel) Slaby, Manitowoc; Carrie (Mark) Hilker, West Bend; and Christian (Sara) Anklam, Two Rivers; eight grandchildren, Amber (Peter) Hobson, Jennifer (Eli) Nelson, Jackson Welsh, Taylor Welsh, Lauren Welsh, Anna Anklam, Logan Hilker, and Maxwell Anklam; three great grandchildren, Henry, Owen, and Bennett Hobson; sister, Barbara (Dennis) Broehm; nephew, Jamie (Sarah) Broehm; also other relatives and many friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Norma Huebner; fathers-in-law and mother-in-law, George Anklam and Alfred Jonas, and Edith (Anklam) Jonas; husband, Glen; and nephew, Ryan Broehm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev.
