Obituary

Marilyn L. Zarn, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her residence.

Marilyn was born on July 31, 1928 in Manitowoc to the late Edgar and Eva (Brooks) Youngchild.  She graduated from Lincoln High School.  On October 30, 1948, Marilyn married Fredrick Zarn in Manitowoc.  He preceded her in death on October 4, 2006.  Marilyn was a talented artist.  She had made numerous paintings and ceramics, many of which were given to her family and friends.  Marilyn enjoyed acting in plays and was active with Masquers. She also spent her time bowling, reading to school children, and volunteering with seniors in which she shared her love of art.  Marilyn was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she had served the church as a Deacon and helped teach Kindergarten.

Survivors include Marilyn's four children, Christine (Ron) Brooks, Connie (Lee) Zeddies, Cheryl Cooke, and Craig (Shannon) Zarn; former son-in-law, Chuck Cooke; former daughter-in-law, Joy Zarn; nine grandchildren, Tammy, Jim, Jon, Jason, Jaime, Ryan, Michael, Tyler, and Carla; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Zarn; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Eva Youngchild; husband, Fredrick; grandson, Ronnie; two brothers, Charles (Verna) Youngchild and Jack (Elaine) Youngchild; sister, Margie (Norbert) Valleskey; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob and Jerry (Joanne), and Elaine Kramer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer will officiate with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum at a later date.  A luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
