Marjorie E. Marek, age 88, a resident of River Woods Place, Manitowoc, entered eternal life early Thursday morning, September 7, 2017 at her residence.
Marjorie was born on April 24, 1929 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Dale and Frances Christoff Garrigan. Marjorie attended St. Boniface Catholic Grade School through 8th grade and continued her education graduating from Washington High School in Two Rivers. She was employed at Holy Family Memorial Hospital working in the admissions office from 1947 until her retirement in 1985. On October 25, 1952 she married Claude "Butch" Marek at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1986. Marjorie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and proud share holder of the Packer organization. Marjorie was 100% Irish and very proud of her Irish heritage.
She is survived by six children: Thomas Garrigan, Rhinelander; Chris (Jennifer) Marek, Campbellsport; Mike (Sue) Marek, Kellnersville; Pat Marek and his special friend Andy Howell, New Orleans, LA; Marjorie Marek and her pet dog Dozer, Manitowoc; Jim (Martha) Marek, Manitowoc; fourteen grandchildren: David, Aaron, Matthew, Brendan, Rebecca, Michael, Nicholas, Lisa, Beau, Dustyn, Joseph, Christopher, Michael, and Nathan; many great grandchildren, special niece, Joyce Abrego, special friend, Kathy Brown along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Dale and Frances Garrigan; husband: Claude "Butch" Marek; her daughter: Beth Marek Krcma; and special uncle: George Christoff.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the committal services at Calvary Cemetery there will be a luncheon held for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
