Mark E. Kortens, age 55, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation.
Mark was born on September 30, 1970 in Manitowoc to the late Daniel and Donna (Close) Kortens. After graduating from Lincoln High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country from 1989 until his honorable discharge in 1992. Mark then went on to attend Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. On October 8, 2005, Mark married Ruth Radzinske at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He enjoyed spending his time travelling around Wisconsin. Mark was a member of Disabled Veterans of America and American Legion Post 88.
Survivors include Mark’s wife of 20 years, Ruth; brother, Ken (Lisa) Kortens, Kimberly; sister, Kari (Al) Gustafson; mother-in-law, Lane Radzinske, Manitowoc; three brothers-in-law, Rick (Debbie) Radzinske, Manitowoc; Roy (Kim) Radzinske, Two Rivers; and Richard (Rhonda) Radzinske, Texas; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Donna Kortens; father-in-law, Robert Radzinske; two uncles and aunt, Robert (Sandy) Kortens and Louie Close; and cousin, Mike Kortens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2426 North Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Rev. Ryan Henning will officiate with burial of Mark’s cremated remains to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 88. The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.
Mark’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of River’s Bend Health and Rehabilitation and Heartland Hospice for all of the care and compassion they provided.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
