Mark E. Schelwat, age 69, of Manitowoc, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
Mark was born on May 13, 1957, in Sheboygan to his parents, Edmund and Ruth (Berger) Schelwat. He attended Sheboygan North High School and went on to have a successful career as an over-the-road truck driver, traveling all across the country. He worked for Midwest Livestock Producers, Dean Brennan Transport, and most recently Wisconsin Nationwide. Mark never wanted to retire because he truly loved trucking.
Mark was a hardworking man who built a beautiful hobby farm while raising his family. He enjoyed attending truck pulls, going to the movies, traveling with his son Kyle, and telling stories and sharing history with anyone who would listen. Mark was a selfless man who found joy in giving, always buying presents for those he loved and never expecting anything in return. Above all else, his family was his number one priority. He especially loved spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren and attended every one of their sporting events.
Mark is survived by his children: Vanessa Schelwat, Two Rivers; Tiffany Ashley, Green Bay; Kyle Schelwat, Maribel; Rebecca (Tyler) Rusch, Manitowoc; and his grandchildren: Weston, Hailey, and Walker Rusch and Lincoln and Emmett Montcrieff.
He is further survived by his sister: Carol (Paul) Warg; brother: Wayne (JoAnn) Schelwat; good friends: Brian and Connie Rusch; nephew: Scott Wieland; and the mother of his children: Barbara Schelwat. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Jean Koss and Kathy Wieland; niece: Teri Weeger; nephew: Mike Gallagher; and good friend Harold Hurda.
Cremation has taken place at Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Branch Station, 8112 Village Drive, Whitelaw.
Mark’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses at Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, especially Cheryl and Elizabeth, for the compassionate care they provided. They would also like to thank Wisconsin Nationwide for supporting Mark’s passion for trucking, Mark’s friends at CT Nails (especially Kim) for the great pedicures, and his good friend Mark Bauldry for his support.
