Obituary

Marvin (Marv) H. Steckert, age 83, a Manitowoc resident, died on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

He was born on July 22, 1934 in Sheboygan, son of the late Hugo and Alice (Stechert) Steckert. Marv was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1953. He served in the US Air Force from 1956 until 1960. Marv was employed as an advertising and display manager for Schuette Brothers until his retirement. Following retirement, he did freelance work as a graphic artist. On May 20, 1983 he married Deborah White in Manitowoc. He designed the logo for the Manitowoc Chiefs in the 1960's and it is still in use today. Marv loved his family, beer and ice cream. In that order.

Survivors include his wife: Deborah Steckert, Manitowoc; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Terry and Mary Steckert, Allen, TX, Ryan and Dawn Steckert, Fond du Lac, Philip (PJ) Steckert and special friend: Gidget, Jackson; six grandchildren: Amy Soe and fiancé: Nick, Riley and Reed Steckert, Payton, Devon and Casey Steckert; three sisters-in-law: Mary Petersen, Sharon White, both of Manitowoc, Jean White, Milwaukee; one brother-in-law: James White, Houston, TX; his mother-in-law: Sally White; and father-in-law: Richard (Karen) White. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening, November 21, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St Clair Streets, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt. Military Honors will be accorded. Cremation has occurred and Marv will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. A light luncheon will be served at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center following services. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
