Obituary

Mary H. Bowen, age 87, of 2113 Columbus Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday afternoon, December 5, 2010 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Mary was born October 17, 1923 in Catasauqua, PA. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Markowicz Hnat. Mary was a graduate of Catasauqua High School. She was employed for over 25 years with the Manitowoc Public School System as a teacher's aid with English as a Second Language. Mary was active with the local Girl Scouts and also active with the Capital Civic Center and Clipper City Shipmates Drill Team. On February 14, 1950 she married Sherwood R. Bowen in Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2000.

She is survived by three children: Robin (Bonnie) Bowen, Manitowoc, WI; Betsy (Joe) LeClair, Two Rivers, WI; Rick (Robyn) Bowen, Elkhart, IN; ten grandchildren: Missy Bowen and her fiance' Eric Hennen; Craig (Tina) Kocourek; Holly (Fred) Cayia; Jeremy (Cheyenne) LeClair; Tracy (Jim) Palmer; Monica LeClair; Kevin LeClair; Aaron Bowen; Shawn Bowen; Kyle Bowen; five great grandchildren: Lauren, Shae and Jake Kocourek; Freddie Cayia; Dominic Flinn; one sister: Helen Buzby and special friend Ken Baron, Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law: Barbara Hnat, Allentown, PA; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nicholas and Anna Hnat; husband: Sherwood Bowen in 2000; two brothers: Joe and Mike Hnat.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m.on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Deacon Paul Kieffer. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to be directed to a memorial fund that is being established in Mary's name.

The family would like to recognize and extend their thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for the care provided to Mary.
