She played weekly rounds of golf, was a regular at the Manitowoc YMCA and, in her last years, Mary could be seen in and around the Felician Village facility getting in her daily walks, and as a volunteer in the aid of other residents.

Mary was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Clio and Kappa Alpha Theta. She believed in supporting the community by volunteering and by philanthropy. She loved her "Y" and her library, plus many other Manitowoc organizations.

Survivors include Mary's three children: Mary Kay (Stephen) Wysham, Chicago, IL; Michael (Beth Healy) Fordney, Milwaukee; and Ted (Sue) Fordney, Oak Park, IL; six Fordney grandchildren: Katherine, Christina, Henry, Bryan, Mark and Daniel; one great grandchild: Andrew; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents A.V. and Reina McPhee and brother Malcolm McPhee.
