Mary Hurda, age 64, a resident of 7112 Reifs Mills Road, Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Mary was born on July 18, 1946 in Norfolk, VA to the late John and Elsie Martin Woolvin. She graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in Virginia with the class of 1965. On April 2, 1966, she married Ralph Hurda in High Point, N.C. Mary had worked for Hamilton Industries, Imperial Eastman, and during her retirement years she worked for the Maritime Museum in Manitowoc. Mary enjoyed spending her time collecting cookbooks, cooking, crocheting, arts and crafts, bird watching, and travelling. Above all, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Ralph; six children: Paul (Vickie) Hurda, Chuck (Rhonda) Hurda, Cindy Hurda, David (Heidi) Hurda, Lisa Hurda, and Lance Hurda and his special friend, Brenda Zietlow, all of Manitowoc; her "adopted children": Noah Kiel and Dan Dewane; 16 grandchildren: Nick (Nessa), Ken (Meghan), Teresa, Kelly (Matthew), Dalton, Bailey, Drew, Kade, Aubrey, Ali, Alexia, Mouse and Bear; three great grandchildren: Emma, Molly and Gracelynn; two sisters: Elsie (Matt) Butler and Muffie (Mike) Kelley; her two dogs: Sassy and Snoopy; also other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: John and Charlie.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Hope Community Church, 4408 County Hwy B, Manitowoc on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm. The Rev. John Aitken will officiate.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Center, Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, and the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Mary's name.
